My name is Sheana Soriano and I am 18 years old. I am 75% Filipino and 25% Russian. I was born in San Francisco, live in Daly City, but actually was raised in San Francisco, causing me to not know much about Daly City. I went to an all Filipino school for K-8 called Bessie Carmichael. I also, went to a Filipino after school program called Galing Bata in which focused on helping students learn more about who they are through speaking, writing, reading, and even going on field trips that related to our culture. I grew up always being involved with the Filipino community whether it was presenting at the I-Hotel or volunteering for Pistahan. I'm hoping to involve my career circled around community, public health, and teaching. I'm still currently trying to figure out exactly what I want to do, but I believe that I am on the right path. Community to me means having a group of people that always push you to do your best and be your best and will always support you. Community is one of the biggest essentials in my life and can also be used as healing in order to heal each other from the oppressions that we all face despite how different we all are.
